Pick something small enough to do every day. It should take less than five minutes. It should not require anything you don't already have.
Do it tomorrow.
The next day, do it again. Change one thing about how you do it. Not because the change is better. Because the practice should know it can be changed.
On the third day, skip it. On purpose. Notice what the skip feels like. Not what you think about skipping — what skipping feels like in the body.
On the fourth day, do it again. The skip is part of the practice now.
Continue for thirty days. Some days you will skip on purpose. Some days you will skip by accident. Do not distinguish between the two.
On day thirty, ask: is this still mine?
If yes, continue. If no, stop. No ceremony. The practice did its work. The work is not the practice.
